The privacy of our customers is extremely important to SherwoodHosting. We strongly believe in every individual's right to privacy and believe that personal information is not a commodity and should not be treated as one. We will never share your personal information with any third party without your permission.

Your email address is not for sale or trade and is strictly guarded. Our Acceptable Usage Policy prohibits our customers from sending unsolicited bulk commercial email (a.k.a. "SPAM") using our services. If it is brought to our attention that one of our customers is violating this policy, we will do everything we can to stop this and ensure it does not happen again. We also do everything within our power to keep non-customers from using our email servers for SPAM—
                                                 We impose a $500 fine
for sending Spam from or through our servers or using our web servers as a target for click-through links given in spam email.

All client information such as email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, etc. is used only for internal purposes only. This contact information will be used to get in touch with you about your web hosting service when necessary and for announcements.  Financial information will be used to bill you for your web hosting service.

The following discloses the information gathering and dissemination practices for this website:

Information Automatically Logged

We use your IP address upon application for a hosting account to provide a log audit trail for abusive practices. We also maintain standard web access log files for website activity monitoring purposes.

When contacting us:

  • We need to know your name, e-mail address, billing addresses, telephone number, and credit card number and expiration date (if paying by credit card). This allows us to process and fulfill your new account order and to send you getting-started information.
  • When you request technical support, we also ask for your e-mail address and telephone number so we can reply to your questions.  We cannot reply without at least receiving your email address.
  • From time to time we may also use the information we collect to notify you about important functionality changes to the web site, new or updates to our products and services, and special offers we think you'll find valuable. If you would rather not receive this information, please send us an email and we'll be happy to remove your name from our updates list. The primary usage, however, of keeping your email address is to alert you to Internet outtages and other emergencies you may want to know about. In the calendar year 2003 for instance, there were three such messages sent, mostly of a virus warning nature.

Steps you should take to protect your email address
from spam harvesting software

Certain internet marketing services or strategies (such as newsgroups, Free-For-All links, or certain forums) may automatically generate and send an email message to someone viewing the post, a member of the group or when the note about our site is submitted to the service. This is beyond the control of SherwoodHosting. We do not purposely use unsolicited or mass email products and/or services.

Do not use your email address as "live text" within your web pages. Spam harvesters look for any text containing"@" and snapshot it as a potential email address.
